mThe next song that I am writing about is Aamra Shobai Raja.......Very very popular in every Bengali household.. I am sure, every Bengali must have performed a group dance on this number during his/her childhood.... For people, who doesn't understand the language...This song states that we all are king of our own kingdom....This song is for democratic country like ours, where we have freedom to speech, act, move, laugh and do anything at our will...I love this song because how simply and beautifully it talks about the power, the common man has...Hats off...Kabi Guru.

Robert Burns wrote the poem “Auld Lang Syne”
in 1788 and tuned it to a traditional Scottish folk song ((Roud # 6294). The
song became so popular that it was recomposed in numerous versions across the
globe. The original lyric of the song is as follows:

Song writers and musicians all over the
world were so impressed with the tune that most of them have their own version
of it. Our very own Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore also took inspiration from this
song and created his own version, “Purano Sei Diner Kotha” in the year 1885. The

The song that I bring in next is Ore Grihobaashi....This song is written in praise of nature, though, I am little confused about the actual meaning. I would request the visitors to pour in their thoughts about the song, which will definitely help me to unlock the meaning.
What amaze me most about Rabi Thaakur is his ability to write for every situation, every thing, every season, various genres...huhshhhhh....list is endless. Writing stories, poems, plays, seems a habit of his gifted mind. Hare re re re re.....This is an amazing composition by Rabi Da....I belive, the time when this song was composed, the reason could possibiliy be patriotism or may be to talk about the freedom of innerself...But, if you listen to the song even today, it will stand perfect for those, who want to BREAK FREE from the husstle busstle of struggling metropolitian life. This song needs no introduction (rather none of the song needs that) as we all must have heard during our childhood days on Doordarshan and on Akarshvani many a times. The inspiration to start this blog has come purely because of the lack of resources, where one could locate the lyrics of Rabindra Sangeet. When me and my wife were listening various songs composed by the Rabi Thakur, she wanted me to search the lyrics so she could also sing along (My wife is a non-bengali).
Unable to find anything amongst the lack of portals, especially, the lyrics written in English, I decided to gift this blog to my wife and to others, who would also like to appreciate the beauty of Rabindra Sangeet but are unable to understand Bengali. This is my Tribute to Great Rabindranath Tagore with an attempt to spread the fragrance of his compositions further amongst present day generation.
